Hey you! Yeah you. Come here, get a little closer… Philly Power Pop trio and Jukebox Heroes, DelCobras, have a new single dropping March 14th. That’s right, Pi Day. Proving once and for all that finding awesome new independent and underground music is as easy as pi(e). The new song is called “Get Closer” and it is an anthemic alt rocker with “Weezer-esque” moments. Not a far cry from the Power Pop sound you’d expect from the band to date, but there is an extra “punch” to it I am thinking might be in relation to their approach in production. I’ve listened a few times and now… and I’m wondering … do I detect a Marc Schuster vocal around the 3 minute mark during the bridge? You’d think I’d have an inside track on that, but I do believe so. It’s a great tune that makes you feel good. And lyrically, the concept of throwing away our phones to live in and enjoy the moment resonates well with me.

Pre-Save “Get Closer” by DelCobras

The band recorded this song with a couple of producers: Andrew Chapman and Adam Whittaker. The single features a couple different versions of the song. Interestly enough, from what I can tell, the band’s work with Chapman began by way a mix competition he was holding on his YouTube channel. And word on the street via DelCobras Central, “Get Closer” looks to be the tip of the iceburg, a teaser if you will, for more new tracks in the pipeline.

Rumor has it, you might just be able to hear “Get Closer” early on AMS Radio during “New Arrivals.” Don’t quote me on this, but you might just be able to add it to your Jukebox collection too… such wicked rumors, shame on me for spreading them! That auto DJ can’t trust me with anything.
