One of the newest songs on AMS Radio’s “New Arrivals” is “Burn For You” by Baltimore, Maryland’s Between Daze. The band, however, is not a recent addition to the station; their name may strike familiarity with you from other songs we have in rotation on “Indie Anarchy” and “Bandcamping” such as “BackYard” and “Shooting Star.” Their sound casts a wide net within the Alternative Rock genre, navigating many spaces between Post-Punk and Pop Rock. This latest track resonated with me similarly to acts like The Cure and U2. Lyrically, the band describes the song as “a poignant exploration true love and the lengths one is willing to pursue it,” and I think that is a great way to describe what I would call an emotional journey while listening to it.

The band is a five-piece ensemble, featuring guitarists Scott Rodenberg and Kenn, bassist Mike Coyne, drummer Kevin Walsh, and vocalist Johnny Burkehead. An interesting fact I also learned recently about the group (by way of the Eclectic Music Lover blog) is that the members have been collaborating musically for about 20 years. Scott, Kenn, and Johnny being the creative core for writing and arrangements.

This 2026 version of “Burn for You” is a punchy remaster done by Wye Wye Productions of a song that was originally tracked and self-recorded by the band sometime earlier (when I am unsure of, but from what I can tell from the Bandcamp catalog, at least 2021 or prior). I found it interesting that the band reflected on originally tracking this song as something of a learning curve with some “cutting edge” new equipment they were experimenting with. And most that know me, know that I have a particular appreciation for that kind of DIY spirit. I would offer an opinion in closing that sometimes… yes sometimes… knowing all the “right” ways upfront to do things in certain circumstances can run the risk of potentially overlooking some brilliant artistic moments.
Hear “Burn for You” during “New Arrivals” and “Alternative Facts” show times on amsradio.com.
Expect more exciting stuff to come from the band as they tease plans to release more remasters of previously unreleased tunes, all while continuing down the path of writing and recording new material.
