If I were any more of a narcissist, I’d think that Joel X Eleanor were writing songs (and crafting their marketing materials) just for me. Great alt-rock power-pop sound? Check. A reference to Rocky (bound to appeal to a Philadelphia native like myself) in the press release? Check again. And a positive message to carry us into the new year? What more could a guy ask for? Joel X Eleanor are bringing a massive amount of energy to their latest track, “Edge of Victory,” which they say is intended to inspire their listeners to believe in themselves even if no one else will. In terms of theme, it calls to mind another song that’s near and dear to my heart, “The Turnaround” by DelCobras. Was that just a plug for my own band? Kind of, but not really. It’s more a case of trying to say that I think my sensibilities are highly in tune with the music that Joel X Eleanor are putting out, and I’m glad to have a song like “Edge of Victory” to serve as my own personal cheering section.

  1. It was written just for you – don’t tell anyone 😉
