Canadian artist Franc O’cher, based out of Bathurst, in New Brunswick, recently released his new single “For Your Love” on August 31st. His repertoire ranges from fun, upbeat, folky pop songs, like “Golden City,” to powerful acoustic folk-rock ballads such as “Out of You.” O’cher does a really good job of blending traditional and modern sounds to produce unique and interesting pieces of work. Truly a singer/songwriter at the core, with a passion for creating unique and powerful music. A multi-instrumentalist, he also plays many of the instruments on his beautifully crafted masterpieces.

“For Your Love” is a sweet and melodic song that evokes feelings of love, desire, passion, and determination. The beginning of “For Your Love” opens up with a luring pop sound conducive to easy listening. A soft and surreal guitar sound sets the tone, invoking a sense of “longing.” The tune then progresses to a lovely folk-rock sound that amplifies the passion.

Franc’s voice is powerful, with a Bryan Adams type of cadence to it, by my ear. There’s just a bit of a raspy edge to his voice, a raw and emotional quality, that registers with his listeners. The passion in O’cher’s voice on “For Your Love,” is the conduit if you will, for connecting the listener to the emotive desire and love conveyed in the lyrics. From the production side of things, the vocals are layered beautifully in the mix, very much contributing to the overall warmth of the track. Of the artist’s body of work, I would say that is the most stand out feature in his overall sound.

Certainly, Franc O’cher writes in a way that is meant to feel sincere and relatable. In this latest effort, tapping into the universal human need to love and to be loved. There is an honesty in the writing that makes it easy to connect to the story. Lyrically, the over-arching premise of the song is about someone that is so in love that they are willing to do anything possible to preserve it, no matter the distance or trials and tribulations that come along with it. It reminds me of my wife and how she’s somehow willing to subject herself to my ramblings, me never knowing where anything is, and my ‘peculiar-at-best’ musings. Don’t judge, now that’s love!!!

Whether climbing the highest mountain or swimming across an ocean for the one you love, “For Your Love” is a balladic testimonial to the notion that love conquers all.
