Some good ol’ straightforward punk rock and roll is something that always sits well with me. Whether I’m feeling up or down, or just casually enjoying my morning coffee and gearing up for the day. Works for me in most scenarios. And I say that casting a wide net because in my view of things, “punk” can include all sorts of varied sub-genre elements like garage rock, hardcore, ska, and in case of today’s blog, power-pop. The Vancouver based band, Slip~Ons, join the station’s lineup with their latest single in support of their EP by the same name titled, “Overtime.” Released by Scamindy Records on February 20th. The band’s lineup features notable experienced musicians in Brock Pytel (Doughboys) and Brian Minato (Sarach McLachlan). It’s guitar heavy, anthemic, and melodically infused. I dig it!
Hear it on The Mother Ship during “New Arrivals” and “Punked” show times. Check out the official video for “Overtime” here:

“The EP plays like a slacker rock manifesto, rooted in 0s alt-rock bite without nostalgia or filler. Loud, focused, and built on real-world mileage. For fans of Sugar, Hüsker Dü, The Replacements, Dinosaur Jr., and Ash.”
