Look, sometimes I write these reviews while I’m listening to the song for the first time, and this is one of those times. The song is called “Lane Says,” by the way, and the band is called Lane. They’re from Boston. Math rock, or so they tell me, though I’m still not sure what that means. But that’s fine, because I like their music, especially this new track. Funky drumbeat. Cool, dirty guitar riff. Tight. Love the shift from a funk beat to a driving rock beat at — damn. Now I need to go back and check. 21 seconds. The vocal is cool, too. Kind of a shout through a megaphone. Lane spreads some sunshine. Fun tune. I feel like summer is coming. Or at least I feel like it might come, which is more than I’ve been able to say since the freeze set in. Did I tell you my water stopped running for a few hours yesterday? No matter: Lane’s working on her tan. This is a good song with a bit of attitude and some cool shifts in beat. It’ll be available on March 2, but we’ll be playing it on AMS Radio before that date, so keep an ear out for it!
