“On My Mind (Acoustic)” is a new arrival to AMS Radio courtesy of New York based artist, Aria. It’s one of those songs that is stripped down, acoustic, and raw, yet remarkably powerful. I’m always so impressed when an artist can have that effect on you. Although the chord progression sounds a little jazzy, the song’s overall vibe comes off as somewhere in the space of Alternative and Folk in my opinion, due in part to the extraordinarily soulful vocal performance. Produced by Daniel Berger, this acoustic version was recorded in one take and is a testament to Aria’s talent as a performer.

There’s some fascinating “lore” behind Aria and this new acoustic version of a song that was originally released in 2023. The original version quickly became Aria’s most streamed song after finding an audience on Turkish radio, and this acoustic version was actually a fan requested project. Further adding to the notoriety of the artist’s background was that they made it to the Top 500 out of 30,000 contestants on “American Idol” back in 2018.

One more thing I appreciate about Aria is their commitment to inclusivity and civility by openly representing the queer, trans, and non-binary community. Being an artist that people can resonate with and find a voice and an ally through, when there isn’t always an easy place to find that is what being “Alternative” is all about.
