Extra post today considering it’s Bandcamp Friday! And speaking of which, Jake Vera’s album “Lost” is a great recommendation for fans of Shoegaze and Alternative Rock. We’re spinning one of my favorite songs on the album, “Wasteland,” during the “New Arrivals,” “Rock Sauce,” and “Alternative Facts” time slots on AMS Radio. He worked with producer Reactance, and Mixing Engineer Sefi Carmel on an undeniably emotive release.

My first impression upon listening to “Wasteland” was that it sounded similar in nature to Seether and later-era Sliverchair at times. Vera mentions bands like Three Days Grace and Breaking Benjamin as influences, and I agree, I think there are elements of those bands in his writing style that you can pick up on as well.

“Wasteland,” as with all of the songs on the album (honorable mention,”Resentment” is another “go to” for me), really has a captivating dynamic to it. It’s very easy to get “Lost” in every song.

When asked what makes this release stand out, I thought Vera’s response was very quote worthy and notable:

“In a digital world that’s rapidly implementing the use of AI, which lacks any soul and true artistic creativity, “Lost” offers not only authentic songwriting that was created with passion and
vulnerability, “Lost” features an unforgettable performance from an aspiring artist that will remind listeners what it means to be human.”

Jake Vera is an artist based out of Dallas, Texas
