Another Jukebox Hero has joined the station! The Bret Tobias Set is a project by well, Bret Tobias, and of the many songs we spin on the station he has added the lead off track to his latest album “Sepviva Shuffle” to the Jukebox catalog! What I like most about his work is that it spans the range of Alternative Music. At times I’m hearing echoes of Tom Petty and Gin Blossoms, and at others I’m hearing underlying Punk / Grunge influence in songs like in “Tuff Sledin’.”

As per usual, something about submissions usually catches my ear and/or my eye when it comes to the descriptions artists send through with their songs. When an artists tag their tracks with genres, the site creates “filters” to search by in the catalog. Mr. Tobias’s genre tags were “Indie,” “Dad Goth,” and “Old Guy.” And when I reached out to thank him for his submissions I had to admit I think I seriously need to re-think the genres of my songs sprinkled in there because I’m pretty sure I’m the embodiment of “Old Guy” rock.
