Happy New Music Friday to ya (…technically tomorrow for me). I recently came across Lewis Coleman’s single “Indigo,” and have been anticipating the album in which it is being released on… dropping tomorrow. The song is a melodic journey through life’s ups and downs, audibly interpreted via color… trippy stuff duuude…

As mentioned before, that album titled “Offline,” is dropping tomorrow, October 27^th courtesy of Beloved Recordings, so check it out! Suffice it to say, my interest is always particularly piqued when I can get my hands on some accompanying vinyl, which is in fact available from Beloved Recordings’ website.

“Indigo” was co-produced by Sam Cromack of Ball Park Music, and the video was filmed by Jack Ralph.

“Indigo” starts off with a folky, lo-fi, acoustic sound. One of those type of songs that are melancholy and yet somehow comforting. Meaning, it conveys a sense of comfort within loss. A sense of knowing amidst the pain, that things will be ok. The lyrics “paint a picture” (pun totally intended) of someone who is ready to see things through a different lens, and make the best of all the colors, whatever they may be.

The chord progression sounds great, I really enjoyed the tone of the acoustic guitar and the swell effect on the lead. The song takes a journey compositionally from folk to an artsy alternative sound, that strikes me similarly to Blur and other 90’s alt-rock. It’s super catchy, and at times also brings to mind the likes of George Harrison and The Shins. I’d certainly recommend Mr. Coleman’s music for fans of those artists.
