German multi-instrumentalist known only by his stage name “Marc,” has amassed a total of thirteen official Spotify releases by way of his project Band w/o Band. The aesthetic component of his latest release is what I see as a continuing evolution in his work as of late. This artist’s most recent track, in my opinion, best exemplifies the sound I’ve previously described as “Ghost meets Korn.”

The chorus of the new song, “Gonna Be Alright,” repeats an upbeat message that promotes optimism lyrically, but the pulsating, punishing bassline and the dark imagery that is characteristic of Band Without Band’s visual expression certainly make the listener unsure of whether they are actually “going to be alright” or if this is just a sly ruse.

The project’s visual dimensions extend beyond just cover-art and permeates in Marc’s filmmaking as well. The band… without a band makes a habit of producing a music video to accompany each single. Due to this, Marc has amassed a sizable amount of engagement on Tik Tok, an excellent platform for following and keeping up with Band w/o Band and a lot of independent music in general.

The project has a “gothic” feel because to the synthesizer component. “Band w/o Band” is a solid choice for fans of Industrial Metal, Dark Wave, and Dark Synth thanks to all these elements combined.

Previous releases: “Get Down,” “When Death Comes,” “Wake Up
